Il mese prossimo la Merge Records si appresta a festeggiare il suo venticinquesimo compleanno con un festival della durata di quattro giorni che si svolgerà in North Carolina. In vista dei festeggiamenti, è stato rilasciato un documentario narrato da Daniel Handler che ripercorre i passi della storica etichetta – Pubblicato su YouTube e non disponibile per il nostro paese, assurdo Ndr – . Un racconto di circa mezz’ora che racchiude, inoltre, le interviste con i fondatori dell’etichetta, i dipendenti e ovviamente con le band.

Oltre a tutto questo, Google Play e Merge, hanno messo in condivisione gratuita un sampler di 25 tracce composto dagli stessi artisti dell’etichetta intenti nel coverizzarsi a vicenda. I Superchunk rifanno “I Don’t Feel Young” dei Wye Oak’s, The Mountain Goats si cimentano con “Who You Are” degli American Music Club, e cosi per tanti altri. Ogni traccia inoltre viene fornita con un’illustrazione a cura di Dave Eggers.
